From the Porch to the Pivot: A Journey of Restored Vision

Donna Woolam

The Seed of the Calling

Even as a little girl playing make-believe with my sister, I stood on my porch and preached. I was a wide-eyed girl who knew there was more to the world than her tiny bedroom in Amarillo, Texas.  I could feel a vision for my life that stretched far beyond the horizon, even if I didn't have the words for it yet.

Years later, even while I was financially successful and respected as a leader, speaker, and trainer, I still had those bigger dreams.

I suspect you do, too. I bet you can still feel that "more" tugging at your heart, even if circumstances or that nagging internal self-talk have kept you from pursuing the opportunities right in front of you.

The Shattering: When the Vision Tumbles

Life has a way of testing the visions we carry. When doctors diagnosed my husband of 40+ years, Richard, with two low-success rate cancers, my dreams didn't just fade--they tumbled like shards of glass around my feet.

I have always been the woman who could power through and take charge. I was the 'designated solver' for everyone else. But I'll admit, the woman I had always been went into hiding; living on the sidelines, looking in.

After years of struggle, in 2020, my guy left me to fly home to the arms of Christ.

I stood at the edge of my life, staring at the nothingness, and knew: it was time for ReInvention.

A Shared Path

If you’ve read this far into my story, we likely share a common thread. Like me, you have faced challenges that tried to anchor you to a past season, and you’ve felt the friction of knowing you were made for more while feeling stuck on the shoreline. You are ready to move beyond the exhaustion of merely "managing" your life and step into the God-breathed identity you were crafted for from the beginning.

The Lord wants more for you than a life of sustained striving. And so do I.

The Vision for You

That conviction is the heartbeat of everything I do. It is the fire behind every word I write and every message I share from the stage. I have spent years building the Journey to Wholeness framework, the books, and this entire digital roadmap—from the podcast to the classes—for one singular purpose: to get the message to YOU.

I want you to hear this clearly: You are not alone. It isn’t too late, and you haven't missed your window. Your life is not a project to be managed; it is a call to experience the wholeness He died for.

The Mess Becomes the Message

The Lord helped me find my way through the seasons where life felt like it had gone off the rails. I discovered that trials and setbacks—those moments that feel like a suspension of everything you hoped for—are actually where your resilience and wisdom are forged. It's where you discover the depths of the love God has for you.

I learned how to take what the world calls a "mess" and let it become a message of hope and transformation. I developed the tools I needed to find my footing and start again, and I reemerged with a clarity I never had before.

That is exactly what I want for you. I want to help you take hold of the vision that has been sidelined by excuses, delays, or the sting of betrayal. We aren't just "dusting off dreams"; we are reclaiming the God-breathed identity that has been in your heart all along.

The Gritty Details: A Timeline of Leadership

If you're looking for the "resume", here is the path that brought me to you:

  • The Early Spark: I was in my 20s the first time someone officially put me in charge. I organized an outreach for the Tri-State Fair in Amarillo. Looking back, it was the first time my 'porch preaching' met real-world leadership.
  • The Discovery of Coaching (2002-2012): My first entrepreneurial venture was in home decor. I thought I was there to sell pottery, but I stumbled onto my true passion: helping women exceed their wildest dreams. When I experienced the power of being coach myself, I knew this was my path.
  • Writing in the Wilderness (2013): While sitting by Richard's bedside during his treatments, I took courses on the craft of writing. I penned my first two books that year. Today, I use that experience to help other visionaries get their messages out of their heads and onto the page.
  • Certification and Community (2014-2015): I became a Certified Professional Coach and founded a thriving meetup for Christian women in Fort Worth. We saw incredible growth—spiritually, financially, and relationally. Even a broken wrist (my left one, and I’m a lefty!) couldn't stop me; I used that recovery time to create the Journey to Wholeness framework.
  • The Executive Pivot and Refinement: (2021-2024): I was hired at my local church as the Executive Pastor. I loved developing the visions and skills of the staff and ministry leaders. However, this season brought my most difficult trial: a profound leadership betrayal and a painful departure from the ministry I had served devotedly. This moment blindsided my human understanding. The very structures I had worked to build became the source of my greatest friction. The "nothingness" I had felt after losing Richard returned with a new, sharp edge, and I found myself once again at the edge of a wilderness.
  • The Final Catalyst: But that season of heartbreak became the final catalyst for my Belief and Mindset Revolution. It was the moment I realized that no earthly structure or person could be the anchor for the vision God was calling me to release. It forced me out of my own Reasoning Box once and for all. It was through the pain of that betrayal that the Journey to Wholeness roadmap was solidified. I didn't just study these principles; I had to live them to survive.

A Note from My Heart to Yours

I’ve spent my life standing on porches, sitting at bedsides, and leading in the halls of ministry. Every step of that journey—the triumphs and the "nothingness"—has taught me one immutable truth: God doesn't just want you to survive your transitions; He wants to renew your mind for a vision you haven't yet released.

I know what it feels like when your own strength hits a wall. I know the weight of what I call the Reasoning Box (figuring out life with just my own point of view and understanding) and the fear of the shadows. But I also know the exhilaration of the Water-Walker stance; standing above the waves of the circumstances, walking to the One who made the waves... and me.

I’m not here to solve your life as if it were a project to be managed. I’ve already done the gritty work of aligning my mind with the absolute Authority of God's Word. I am honored to share this roadmap with you so you can finally experience the wholeness you were crafted for.
